Bookshop.org is pleased to announce its first hybrid event with the winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, Maggie O’Farrell, to discuss her latest novel, The Marriage Portrait, which is Bookshop.org’s Book of the Month for November.
The event will take place on Thursday 1 December at 6.30pm at the beautiful Alnwick Gardens, Northumberland, chaired by New Writing North’s Claire Malcolm. Maggie will be discussing the inspiration behind her beautiful novel, what she discovered about the real Lucrezia de’ Medici during her research and shedding new light on a familiar story, as she did with her previous book Hamnet.
All independent bookshops on Bookshop.org can be involved in this event – either by promoting as a standalone event or incorporating it into their existing events programme. Customers who pre-order or buy a copy of The Marriage Portrait through a participating independent bookshop (in-store or online via Bookshop.org) will receive event link emailed to them on the day. As Bookshop.org’s Book of the Month for November, customers can enjoy free shipping on the title from now until midnight on 30 November.
Tickets to the in-person event will be available to purchase from Forum Books.
Bookshop.org first launched its virtual events programme in March 2021, with an evening with Kazuo Ishiguro and has since hosted the QI Elves, Brit Bennett, Claudia Winkleman, Ottolenghi and, for Independent Bookshop Week, Michelle Zauner, amongst others.
The October Book of the Month will be announced at a later date.
