The Opportunity:
Midas is looking for a creative and dynamic Account Executive or Senior Account Executive to join our books and culture team, working on a wide range of authors including business books, and children’s books. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented junior PR with approximately one or two-years’ experience in an agency, looking for the next career step, or if you’re an in-house publicity assistant looking to make the move into agency life. You will be supporting the team in delivering creative and impactful publicity campaigns for our clients in the educational and business arena, on corporate comms for our trade clients and working with authors of all genres.
Our enviable client list includes corporate comms for The Booksellers Association, Bookshop.org (UK and US), Awesome Books, Litalist, Institut Ramon Llull, Sharjah International Book Festival and The London Book Fair. Our publishing clients include Cheltenham Literature Festival, BookTrust, Audible, International Dylan Thomas Prize, as well as publishers like Head of Zeus, Headline, Macmillan and Penguin Random House.
Midas is proud to have run publicity campaigns for books by some of the most respected names in the business world: Margaret Heffernan, Sir Ronald Cohen, Robert Wigley, Samo and Iza Login, Felix Dennis, Bob Swarup, Dame Stephanie Shirley, and Sir Rod Aldridge. Plus we’ve worked with publishers such as Kogan Page, Taylor & Francis and Routledge, and have promoted the FT Business Book of the Year Award since its inception.
In the children’s book arena Midas has worked alongside publishers like Walker, Graffeg, Quercus, Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Head of Zeus and we promote some of the most-loved storytellers and illustrators in the business including literary legends Waterstones Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell, Ben Okri, Julia Donaldson, Piers Torday, Allie Esiri, RJ Palacio and CJ Daugherty and break-out talent Fransie Frandsen, Sebastian de Souza and Ian Brown & Eoin Clarke.
Skills & Experience:
Approximately 1 years’ experience working in a busy PR team, at an agency or in-house
Culture vulture for books and the wider arts
Ability to write press releases
Good communicator
Ability to juggle accounts and work with different people
Creative thinker
Ability to display resilience at busy times
Persuasive and tenacious in pitching to the media
A go-getter: self-motivated, hardworking and a team player
Excellent organisational skills
Proficient at social media
Good knowledge across print, broadcast, digital media
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll play a key role supporting your account team, helping to develop and implement PR campaigns for clients
Assisting at events, launch parties and press launches
Researching and writing press releases, and identifying and pitching to relevant media
Monitoring the media for coverage and opportunities
Supporting on administrative responsibilities for client management
