Audible, a world-wide leader in spoken-word entertainment, has today announced the acquisition of a vivid trilogy from debut author Sophie Keetch, offering listeners a powerful, feminist retelling of Arthurian legend.
The trilogy, to be released exclusively as Audible Originals, will be told from the perspective of traditional Arthurian antagonist and sorceress Morgan Le Fay, casting the story of Camelot, Merlin and King Arthur in a new light. The first audiobook in the trilogy, Morgan Is My Name, will be released in May 2022 and will see Morgan coming of age and struggling to assert herself in a world which seeks to control her. As she discovers her own magical potential, it becomes clear that she is somehow connected to the boy who has just pulled the sword from the stone, setting both on a dangerous trajectory which will live on in legend.
Aurelie De Troyer, SVP of International English Content at Audible said: “Sophie Keetch is an exciting new talent and Morgan is My Name starts off this fantastic trilogy with a bang. Arthur and Merlin usually take centre stage, but this is unapologetically Morgan’s own story, told in her own voice and that’s what makes this such a compelling listen.”
Sophie Keetch, author of Morgan is My Name said: “I am thrilled that the Morgan trilogy has found such a supportive and enthusiastic home at Audible. Morgan le Fay is a fascinating, complex character of Arthurian legend and it was her contradictions, along with the challenges she faces as an extraordinary woman in a man’s world, that inspired the writing of these books. I couldn’t be more excited to see my version of her story come to life.”
World English audio rights for Keetch’s trilogy were acquired from Marina de Pass at The Soho Agency.
Following the Audible release this year, Oneworld will be releasing the print and eBook edition of Morgan is My Name in 2023. Jenny Parrott at Oneworld bought UK and British Commonwealth rights from Marina de Pass at The Soho Agency.
The Morgan trilogy joins a host of gripping Audible Original stories including: Sleeping Beauty by Marty Ross, starring Stephen Fry, Phoebe Dynevor, Rochenda Sandall and more; The Evidence by K L Slater, narrated by Clare Corbett, Rachel Atkins and more; The Thirty Miles Trilogy by Rob Parker, narrated by Luther’s Warren Brown; and The Code Series by RR Haywood, narrated by Merlin star Colin Morgan.
Morgan Is My Name will be available exclusively on Audible in May 2022. It will be available free for Audible Plus members, or free to download with Audible’s 30-day trial: www.audible.co.uk
