The Private Eye Paul Foot Award for Investigative and Campaigning Journalism has been awarded to ALEXANDRA HEAL, THE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM/VARIOUS OUTLETS for her Nowhere to Turn campaign.
Due to current regulations in place around Covid-19, the awards ceremony – normally held at BAFTA – took place online and can be viewed at www.private-eye.co.uk/eyeplayer. A piece on the winner has also run in print issue 1524 of Private Eye on Wednesday 17th June.
This year’s judging panel, chaired by Padraig Reidy, Little Atoms, comprised Julia Langdon, Political Journalist and Broadcaster; Simon Jenkins, The Guardian; Helen Lewis, Author, Journalist and Broadcaster; Francis Wheen, Private Eye; Matt Foot, criminal defence solicitor; Janine Gibson, FT and Emily Dugan, Buzzfeed, who won the 2019 Paul Foot Award.
Set up in memory of revered journalist Paul Foot, who died in 2004, the award honours the UK’s most brilliant, talented and determined journalists working in the fields of investigative and campaigning journalism today.
