London, Thursday 24 May: Independent Bookshop Week (IBW) has announced it will host a Live Podcast Tour, as part of IBW’s extensive programme of events.
Featuring some of the most exciting podcasters in the book world today, the line-up includes:
Book Off!, the popular literary podcast hosted by Joe Haddow, will ask London-based authors Viv Groskop (author of How to Own the Room) and Chris Power (author of Mothers) to go head to head in a war of the words at Stoke Newington Bookshop (London) as they both pitch a book they love and think everyone should read.
Join Nigerian-British writer Irenosen Okojie and the co-hosts of Not Another Book Podcast for a bold and honest conversation at Housmans Bookshop (London) on Okojie’s experiences as a novelist and short story writer, the joys of storytelling, surreal tales, disrupting narratives and her forthcoming short story collection Nudibranch and novel Curandera.
VINTAGE Podcast, hosted by Leena Normington, will interview The Language of Kindness bestselling author Christie Watson at Clapham Books (London) to talk about Christie’s astounding account of being a nurse for twenty years.
Award-nominated the Bestseller Experiment will take part in a lively discussion at Harbour Books (Whitstable) with Whitstable authors Julie Wassmer (author of The Whitstable Pearl Mystery), John McGhie (author of White Highlands) and Katherine May (author of The Electricity of Every Living Thing) about the importance of independent bookshops, in an increasingly digital age, and how they continue to influence their lives and careers.
Each live podcast event will be recorded and released as an episode at a later date.
Celebrating independent bookshops, and their vital importance to communities across the country, Independent Bookshop Week (IBW) events will be taking places at bookshops across the UK and Ireland, with 442 bookshops taking part.
