From the 2024 BAMB Reader’s Awards to new publications and clients on Loose Women, plus a new Book Lover Spotlight, here’s what’s been happening at Midas this week:

BAMB Reader’s Awards

On Tuesday 12th November, authors, readers, booksellers, publishers and more gathered at Foyles, Charing Cross to discover the winners of this year’s Books Are My Bag Readers Awards, with an awards ceremony hosted by presenter and author Charlene White.

From a shortlist curated by booksellers, readers across the UK and Ireland voted for their favourite titles and authors in a public vote. Winners included David Nicholls, Chris Broad, Hollie McNish, Holly Jackson, Ross Montgomery and Asako Yuzuki. You can find the full winners list and more about the awards here.

 

 

Happy Publication to Tamara Ecclestone Rutland’s Fifi & Friends!

New Frontier UK published Fifi & Friends: The Super Car Race an action-filled picture book that champions curiosity and determination, inspired by Tamara’s experiences growing up in the world of Formula 1, as well as her own daughter’s passion for cars. Last week, The Sunday Times published an exclusive first interview about the book and today Tamara appeared on Loose Women, with further interviews still to come in The Sun and HELLO!.

 

Life’s Short, Talk Fast

I Did Something Bad launch

We celebrated the publication of Pyae Moe Thet War’s ‘I Did Something Bad’ on the 14th of November at Backstory London. Pyae spoke to fellow author Rufaro Faith Mazarura. Born and raised in Yangon, Pyae holds a BA from Bard College at Simon’s Rock, and MA’s from University College London and the University of East Anglia. She currently shares a home (and her food) with her dogs Gus and Missy. I Did Something Bad is her debut novel.

 

 

Palisade Media Lunch

We celebrated Lou Gilmond’s thrilling new book Palisade with an exclusive media lunch attended by journalists from The Bookseller, BookBrunch, Financial Times, Literary Review, Closer Magazine, The London Standard, and Shots Magazine.

 

 

Book Lover Spotlight: @claremackwrites

Bookshop.org’s initiative ‘Book Lover Spotlight’ shines on a different individual every two weeks to curate and post their favourite books.
