Midas Meets… Anna Zanetti

Each month, we’re sitting down with different members of our brilliant team to understand what creates the bold and cutting-edge work we do and find out a bit more about the person behind the work.

Meet our brilliant Senior Account Manager, Anna Zanetti, who works across a range of culture and visual arts accounts, such as The London Book Fair, Booksellers Association (Bookshop Day and Independent Bookshop Week), Bookshop.org (UK & USA), flipped eye publishing, The AA and much more!

Beyond work, Anna has eclectic interests, including avant-garde art, cycling, reading, contemporary and folk dance, and anything to do with Latin.

Here is what she has to say…

Something I won’t shut up about is…

Probably the last dance or theatre show I went to. As a massive culture vulture, I feel so lucky to be able to enjoy London’s wonderful theatres and dance venues – Tosca at the Royal Opera House or Pina Bausch at Sadler’s Wells anyone? I’m also a big fan of fringe theatre: my favourite one is The Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill, both for its stunning interiors (and the bar!) and their productions.

Best thing about my job is…

Working to promote and spread the word about things that I’m genuinely passionate about – books, culture, art. Having worked in other sectors (digital marketing and translation) before, I love having the chance to be immersed in the world of culture. I don’t think I could do PR for anything else!

I got to where I am today by…

Two things: first of all, by moving to the UK to go to university. It was a big step for me, but I wouldn’t be the person I am now had I stayed in Italy. Secondly, by not being afraid to take a detour in my career, rolling up my sleeves to work in a different field while I was applying for art jobs.

In fact, that also gave me the chance to find out about PR, which ended up being my ideal career: I knew I wanted to work with culture, and I knew I liked writing and chatting to people, but I had no idea what PR was when I was at university!

In my spare time, I like to…

Get moving! I love cycling around and outside London, going for walks in the park and to discover new areas of the city, and dancing – I love all dance styles, from contemporary to swing and from to balfolk (traditional European folk dances).

One thing I wish I knew at the start of my career is…
Don’t be afraid to ask: it’s good to be independent and learn to figure out things for yourself. If you’re kickstarting your career in a field that you know absolutely nothing about, it’s actually ok not to have all the answers straightaway!
