Henley Festival
On Wednesday, Midas team headed to the stunning Thames riverside for the unmissable Henley Festival – the UK’s only black-tie music and arts festival with a unique Floating Stage. Across five magical summer nights packed full of world-class music, comedy, dining and dancing, this year’s headliners include Nicole Scherzinger, Dave Stewart’s Eurythmics Songbook, Trevor Nelson, Gladys Knight, Rylan, Nigel Kennedy, Sam Ryder and much more. Founded as a charity more than 40 years ago, Henley Festival’s mission is to support the next generation of talent and this year’s RISE line-up will once again give a platform for young musicians to take their first steps on stage.
Spring Street
This week was publication day for the Spring Street series – 20 design-led books for babies and toddlers encouraging exploration, motor skills, and shared learning designed by illustrators Owen Davey, Lo Cole and Pintachan.
Spontaneous Acts by Yoko Tawada, translated by Susan Bernofsky
This week saw the publication of Spontaneous Acts (11 July, Dialogue Books), the highly anticipated new novel by award-winning author Yoko Tawada and translated by Susan Bernofsky. Unfolding like a lucid dream, the solace of friendship, reading, conversation, music – of seeing and being seen – is examined and celebrated. Exploring important issues of today such as toxic masculinity, racism and the demands of capitalism, Tawada’s mesmerising new story unravels these demanding themes masterfully, balancing them with light-hearted inventiveness and playfulness.
