Association of British Orchestras
This week the Association of British Orchestras launched a new campaign, #MusicThatMovesYou which celebrates the value and power of connection that classical music brings to the UK.
Absurd Ventures
The legendary Lazlow Jones – who worked at Rockstar Games for nearly 20 years as a director, producer and writer for history-making franchises Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Bully, Max Payne, Midnight Club, and others – spoke at The Podcast Show on Wednesday about his new audio fiction podcast A Better Paradise. A Better Paradise is the first new piece of creative content to be launched by Absurd Ventures, Dan Houser’s new entertainment company.
The Windham-Campbell prizes x Lit Hub Podcast
The Windham-Campbell Prizes Podcast returns for a third season to celebrate 2024 recipients and will launch on 29 May 2024, as part of an ongoing partnership with literary website Lit Hub.
The new season will comprise of eight episodes, each featuring one of this year’s recipients: for Fiction, Deirdre Madden and Kathryn Scanlan; for Nonfiction, Christina Sharpe and Hanif Abdurraqib; for Drama, Christopher Chen and Sonya Kelly; and for Poetry, m. nourbeSe philip and Jen Hadfield.
Hosted by Mike Kelleher, Director of the Windham-Campbell Prizes, each episode is a conversation with prize recipients about the books and plays they love, where they share insights into their writing lives and careers to date.
Wolfson History Prize’s 2024 prize dates announced
The Wolfson History Prize, the most prestigious history writing prize in the UK, has revealed this year’s prize dates. The shortlist of six books will be announced on Monday 23 September 2024, with the winner named on Monday 2 December 2024. Save the dates, history fans! Private Eye Paul Foot Award 2024 Shortlist
This week we celebrated the shortlist announcement for the Private Eye Paul Foot Award for Investigative and Campaigning Journalism. Comprising the best submissions from across national and regional digital and print publications, this year’s shortlist covers a range of important topics, including dubious local government dealings, alleged abuse and bullying in the finance world, failures in the UK’s mental health system, windfalls for big polluters and the silencing and persecution of the most powerless in society. The winning entry will be announced at a ceremony on 11 June, hosted by Private Eye editor Ian Hislop.
