This week at Midas: 5th-9th February

Our round-up of Midas announcements from the week:

 

LBF Main Stage announcement

Tomorrow, LBF will announce a stellar line-up of speakers on its Main Stage, including TikTok sensation and clinical psychologist Dr Julie Smith; entrepreneur and host of the UK’s no.1 podcast ‘The Diary of a CEO’ Steven Bartlett; and actor and philanthropist Michael Sheen.

Speaking on Wednesday 13 March, Dr Julie Smith will be addressing the state of mental health for authors and the creative sector, as well as her meteoric rise on TikTok, where she has over 4.7 million followers.  A special session on the same day will feature entrepreneur, investor, podcaster and author Steven Bartlett, where he’ll discuss his chart-topping book The Diary of a CEO and his lessons in leadership business and marketing. On Thursday 14 March, a session with Michael Sheen, alongside Audible Head of UK Tracey Markham, will focus on how diversity and inclusion (D&I) are delivered within publishing, the wider creative industries, and what constitutes good practice in this area.

New Windham-Campbell Prizes Podcast, in partnership with Lit Hub

The Windham-Campbell Prizes launched their new Windham-Campbell Prizes Podcast this week, as part of an ongoing partnership with literary website Lit Hub.

 The new winter podcast series is hosted by Michael Kelleher, Director of the Windham-Campbell Prizes. Each episode will take as its starting point a work selected by the recipients and will also see the writers reflect on their careers and give insights into their writing lives.

 In the first episode, Yiyun Li discusses the French classic tale of tragic solitude Mouchette by Georges Bernanos, the source of the celebrated film by director Robert Bresson.
