Books Are My Bag Readers Awards 2023
Last Tuesday, the public crowned Bonnie Garmus and her best-selling debut Lessons in Chemistry as their author and book of the year at the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards 2023, at an awards ceremony at Foyles Charing Cross. Voted for entirely by the public, the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards are the only book awards with a shortlist curated by bookshops across the UK, and winners chosen by readers. Among the winners were also gaming novel Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin (Fiction); neurodiversity memoir Strong Female Character by Fern Brady (Non-Fiction); Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell (Children’s Fiction); and Scottish poet Michael Pedersen with The Cat Prince (Poetry).
Quick Reads 2024
The Reading Agency has announced the six best-selling authors championing Quick Reads 2024. They are Kia Abdullah, Malorie Blackman, Matt Cain, Kit de Waal, Jo Nesbo and Karen Swan. The 2024 Quick Reads titles will be published on 11 April 2024. Quick Reads plays a vital role in addressing the UK’s adult literacy crisis, engaging the one in three adults who do not regularly read for pleasure and the one in six adults who find reading difficult.
Daisy Goodwin Limited Edition Proofs of Diva
We had a fantastic day with @DaisyGoodwin delivering limited edition proofs of #DivaTheBook to booksellers across London – an unforgettable, heart-breaking and glamorous novel based on the life of legendary Opera singer #MariaCallas – out 14th March 2024, published by @HoZ_Books.
The Children of Athena
Charles Freeman’s book was published on Thursday 9th November and is a compelling and fascinating portrait of the continuing intellectual tradition of Greek writers and thinkers in the Age of Rome.
