On Saturday 7th October 2023 during National Libraries Week Waterstones Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho reached the “Library Marathon’ finish line on his homemade bamboo bicycle. This momentous milestone signalled the end of a cross-country journey – four years in the making – which has seen him join 213 libraries (one in every local authority in the UK) to celebrate their invaluable role in communities, with a call for people, young and old, to join their local library. On this final day, he cycled into the courtyard of the British Library to launch a spectacular Book Adventurers’ family day.
It’s been an honour to work with Joseph and Booktrust on the Library Marathon initiative and we were thrilled to see the epic final week covered in The Guardian, BBC Breakfast, BBCR4 Today, CBBC Blue Peter, CBBC Newsround, BBCR3 In Tune, ITV London News amongst others and an incredible spread of regional coverage across the North West.
