We were thrilled to work with historian Dan Jones and artist Marina Amaral on their latest collaboration The World Aflame: The Long War, 1914-1945 published by Head of Zeus in hardback 14th May.
To kick-start the coverage a stunning 5-page exclusive feature and interview with Marina was secured with The Observer Magazine which also ran on Guardian online . That same weekend the Sunday Post (Glasgow) ran a image-led feature and The Sunday Times ran a glowing review of the book. This coverage was followed in publication week with a serialisation in The Daily Express including two consecutive double page spreads, a feature in The Daily Mail Online and a 4* review in The Observer.
In broadcast, Dan Jones was interviewed on BBC Radio 4: Saturday Live and TalkSport Breakfast, and outside of the UK media Harper’s Bazaar Brazil ran an online feature and The Washington Post will be running an extract and interview over Memorial Day Weekend (U.S).
Like The Colour of Time, The World Aflame is a collaboration between the gifted Brazilian artist Marina Amaral, and the leading British historian Dan Jones. Marina has created 200 stunning images, using contemporary photographs as the basis for her full-colour digital renditions, and the accompanying narrative anchors each image in its context, and weaving them into a vivid account of four decades of conflict that shaped the world we live in today. A fusion of amazing pictures and well-chosen and informative words, The World Aflame offers a moving – and often terrifying – perspective on the bloodiest century in human history.
